History

Schalla Jewelers, now a second-generation jeweler, started in 1952 by Gordon Schalla in Milwaukee WI, a watchmaker who grew his business over thirty-seven years into one of Milwaukee's most respected jewelers.

Garry, the oldest of three boys learned the business from a young age, washing windows and wrapping gifts. In a few years, Garry began his career as a goldsmith, going on to become Wisconsin's fourth Graduate Gemologist in 1977. He continues his education in the industry on both a state and national level.

After working for his family, Garry started an independent appraisal business for both private clients and the jewelry industry, shortly after Garry opened his first store in 1981 located in Milwaukee, WI. In 1997, the Schalla’s opened a second location in Ouray, CO.

Each year we add new dimensions and ever-flowing textures to Garry's technical knowledge. Schalla Jeweler has grown, using education and trust, through honesty and commitment, to create custom design work and original creations for customers in over 39 states.
